April 26, 2015 - Manassas, VA - The brothers of OZS and friends/supporters attended the annual March of Dimes March for Babies walk to raise money in support of programs in our communities that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies.  Through its efforts, OZS raised $3,124.20 for March for Babies, making it one of the highest grossing organizations in terms of fundraising funds for this year's campaign! 
 
"I Am My Brother's Keeper" - REAL TALK
September 24, 2014 - The brothers of OZS and friend/supporter Dr. Mick Upsher attend the Phi Beta Sigma, Inc. "I Am My Brother's Keeper REAL TALK" event in DC at that Washington Marriot Wardman Park Hotel.  This event featured an esteemed panel of impactful black activists who engaged in a serious conversation about the future of our young men of color.  The event was inspiring and insightful and our very own International President of Phi Beta Sigma, Inc., Jonathan A. Mason Sr., laid out our fraternity's strategy for how we as an organization will execute on President Obama's "My Brother's Keeper" initiative with a 10-point agenda designed to showcase Sigma commitment to the cause.

September 5, 2014 - Omicron Zeta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. hosted it's 1st Annual Community Outreach Golf Tournament on September 5th at Forest Greens Golf Club in Triangle, VA. The event was an overwhelming success and raised funds to assist OZS in making a positive impact in the local community through service programs and scholarships for deserving young men. Over 65 golfers participated in this fundraiser, which included a Greek Golf Challenge. Trophies were awarded to the Top Greek team, Top Sigma team, 1st - 3rd place for open scramble participants, longest drive, and closest to the pin.

August 29, 2013 - Prince William County, VA. - OZS Hosted the 3rd installment of it's "D9 Happy Hour for Charity" event that has raised over $3500 for various charities since it's inception.  The charity focused on in this event was Trevor's Treasures (www.trevorstreasures.org), a foundation established in honor of 11yr old Trevor Blake, who passed away in August 2013 from cancer, as a vehicle to as a vehicle to help other youth who are battling terminal diseases. 

This event was conceptualized by OZS Brother Kenneth (KJ) Flowers, Jr.  It is held bi-annually at K2 Restaurant and Lounge, a local minority-owned establishment in Woodbridge, VA.

Saving Lives through Walking!Saving Lives through Walking!

Prince William County, VA—On a brisk morning on the first day of May, hundreds of individuals gathered at the Loy E. Harris Pavilion, in Manassas, VA, to exercise.

But, this was not any regular gathering, rather, yet, a four-mile walk to raise money to help fund research and projects that will help improve the lives of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality; March for Dimes, March for Babies.

On this day, 11 men of the Omicron Zeta Sigma chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, took part in this annual event. They ran and walked, laughed and sang, as they trekked the four-mile course to the finish line. As a total group effort the chapter raised $1,810.

The legacy and relationship between the NAACP and the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., is well documented and this rich history and partnership isn't finished. Brothers of the Omicron Zeta Sigma Chapter participated in the NAACP - Prince William County Branch - Family Reunion Cookout on Saturday, July 3rd, 2010, in Dumfries, VA, at the Weems-Botts Memorial Park.

The senior "family" members enjoyed the bright Blu-Phi of the Brothers and welcomed them with open arms. Brother Kevin Davis is the chapter's delegate to the NAACP-PWC Branch and he is essential in helping bring OZS up-to-speed with collaborative opportunities between the NAACP and PBS:OZS. The Cookout was filled with food, family, and fun. Brothers enjoyed the fried fish, chicken, watermelon, hamburgers, hot dogs, cakes, and sodas. Everyone also enjoyed seeing Brother Keith Martin referee the tug-of-war matches between the young ladies and young men. Brothers were observed blending service and fellowship throughout the family reunion cookout.

You Know!!! The 4th of July can't be celebrated without the Brothers in the Blue and White! Omicron Zeta Sigma took great pride in participating in the annual Dale City Independence Day Parade. As one of 130 or more organizations; Phi Beta Sigma's got "Soul" stole the show. Brothers didn't have to step in the parade to be noticed. Rather, the Brothers chanted the three-part harmony of "Sigma Soul" down Dale Boulevard. The parade which is hosted primarily by the Dale City Civic Association attracts more than 13,000 residents of Prince William County and surrounding areas. Directly after the parade, Brothers participated in the subsequent "Family Fun Day" and hosted a bean bag toss booth for the young and the young at heart.

June 5, 2010 - The Brothers of the Omicron Zeta Sigma alumni chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. participated in the Relay for Life, a national effort of the American Cancer Society, to raise money toward the research of curing the disease, educating and bringing awareness to the community about cancer.

Through the efforts of the 22 participants the chapter was able to collect over $2,300, walked over 80 miles in 15 hours to become one of the top fund raising chapters nationally in Phi Beta Sigma. The team of 22 participants touched hundreds of members in the community by sending email, phone calls and interacting with other participants to assist the American Cancer Society (ACS). Phi Beta Sigma is committed to donating over $100,000 dollars nationally (through fund raising efforts) and continues to support ACS throughout the year.

April 18, 2010 - Omicron Zeta Sigma Brothers participated in a national program to help raise money toward the assistance of research to unhealthy newborns and to help families who have had babies born prematurely. The goal for the chapter was to raise $2,000 dollars toward the March of Babies program.

March 13, 2010 - In celebration of Read Across America, Brothers of the Omicron Zeta Sigma chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. entertained 78 children and their parents at Potomac Library located in Prince William County, Virginia by reading Dr. Seuss books.

Several brothers of the newly established chapter in Prince William County, Virginia donated two hours of their time to epitomize a love of children's literature and learning. The goal and purpose of the this program was to instill the belief that books are an effective tool for teaching young children the basic skills they need to be successful. When celebrating reading, we sent a clear message to children that reading is fun and important.

The brothers, each wearing their royal blue-and-white colors and letters associated with our esteemed organization , read to children ranging from pre-kindergarten to second grade. While some of the books read were from the library, several brothers brought their own copies from home to share with the children.

Read Across America Day is celebrated annually in honor of Dr. Seuss on his birthday, March 2. The National Education Association sponsors events throughout schools and communities on this day to inspire reading in children.

November 1, 2010 - The Omicron Zeta Sigma alumni chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. became an official presence in Prince William County, Virginia by receiving the official charter certificate from the National Office. The charter was signed by the 33rd International President, Hon. Bro. Jimmy Hammock, and the general board and issued on November 1, 2009.
