The Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Omicron Zeta Sigma (OZS) Chapter will be accepting applications for the 2020 Omicron Zeta Sigma (OZS) Chapter Scholarship. This Scholarship application is open to all young men graduating from a Prince William County High Schools in June 2020. Last year, we awarded $8,000 in scholarships. 2020 monetary amounts will be announced in the very near future.
The application and each of its components must be completed, submitted, and received by March 15th, 2020. Each candidate must submit, in addition to the signed Personal Data forms, his:
- “Secondary School Transcript” documenting the cumulative grade point average (GPA) through the 2018 – 2019 (11th grade) school year and the ACT and/or SAT scores.
- Two (2) letters of recommendation from high school personnel and one (1) letter of recommendation from someone who can attest to the applicant’s community service involvement.
- One (1) five-hundred (500) word essay answering the thesis question "How will my education impact my service to my community?"
- One (1) official (photocopy is acceptable) letter of acceptance/admittance from the chosen college or university.
Students’ applications for the 2020 Omicron Zeta Sigma Scholarship will be assessed using the following Standards for Selection: Education aspiration, potential, financial need, commitment to community service, 2.5 minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA), motivation, attitude, dependability, responsibility, and leadership qualities.
The students who are awarded the scholarships will be notified no later than April 15th, 2020.
